How these tools handle numbers
The calculators do arithmetic on figures you enter, plus the rates this site already publishes with a source: the current IFTA matrix, the UCR brackets, the state weight-distance tables, and the oversize permit fees. Nothing is pre-filled with an invented figure, and where a jurisdiction publishes no rate the tool asks you for it rather than guessing. The methodology page explains how every figure on this site is sourced and re-verified.
The MC and DOT lookup is different in one way worth knowing: it reads FMCSA open data live rather than from this site's pre-built files, so it shows a carrier record as it stands today and names the dataset behind every line.
