Evan compiles the compliance data behind every page on Haul Handbook: federal operating-authority steps, per-state intrastate authority rules, IFTA and IRP registration facts, oversize and overweight permit fees, and the quarterly fuel tax rate tables. Every displayed fact traces to an official source, which the page cites next to the fact itself.

How the data is gathered

Facts come from the agencies that own them: FMCSA, IFTA Inc., IRP Inc., the IRS, ucr.gov, and each state's DOT, DMV, or revenue department. Vendor blogs and filing services are never treated as sources. When a fact cannot be confirmed against an official source, the site shows that honestly instead of guessing. The methodology page states the full sourcing standard and the refresh cadence, including the quarterly IFTA rate re-verification, and the editorial process covers how the writing is produced and corrected.
