NDOT permits Nevada's non-reducible oversize and overweight moves, with single-trip and annual multiple-trip permits priced in the administrative code and single-trip dimension ceilings fixed alongside them. The figures below come from NAC Chapter 484D and the DMV's permit page, not from a permit vendor.

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) handles permits for non-reducible loads exceeding 102 inches (8 feet 6 inches) in width, 14 feet in height, 80,000 pounds in weight or 70 feet in length, and for trucks over 40 feet or buses over 45 feet. Permit fees and single-trip dimension ceilings are fixed in NAC 484D. The DMV separately sells over-length permits for reducible loads exceeding 70 feet, up to 129,000 pounds.Nevada Administrative Code Chapter 484D (NAC 484D.635 permit fees; NAC 484D.655 single-trip permit maximum dimensions; NAC 484D.660 annual permit dimensions; NAC 484D.670 pilot cars)Verified Sep 2, 2026

Axle weight limits
Gross weight is one ceiling; each axle group carries its own limit, and a load can be legal on gross weight yet overweight on an axle. Exceeding any of these needs an overweight permit.

What the escort itself has to be
Hitting the threshold is only half of it. The escort vehicle, its equipment, its driver's certification and where it rides are all regulated, and the carrier is the one holding the permit when they are not met.
Loads oversize in more than one dimension
The Department may require an additional pilot car and coordinate utilities escorts and traffic control for loads wider than 17 feet on two or three lane roads, wider than 19 feet on four or more lanes, or higher than 16 feet (NAC 484D.640(12)).Nevada Administrative Code Chapter 484D (NAC 484D.635 permit fees; NAC 484D.655 single-trip permit maximum dimensions; NAC 484D.660 annual permit dimensions; NAC 484D.670 pilot cars)Verified Sep 2, 2026

What sets off the permit
Nevada's legal envelope runs from two statutes: the width ceiling of NRS 484D.600 and the height ceiling of NRS 484D.605, which carries a taller exception for baled hay. NDOT's permit page restates the non-reducible triggers in feet, including the weight and length thresholds that put a load in permit territory. A single-trip permit then buys you the administrative-code ceilings, which run wider, taller and longer than the legal limits.
Single-trip and annual costs
NAC 484D.635 fixes the fee schedule: a flat single-trip fee, an annual multiple-trip permit for carriers making repeated moves, and a replacement charge for a lost annual permit. There are no weight tiers in the published fee; the code prices the permit, not the pounds. The fee table on this page renders each figure from the code.
Escorts and pilot cars
Nevada writes its escort triggers per dimension in NAC 484D.670: a pilot car leads or trails depending on whether width, height, length or overhang is the dimension over the line, and a load high enough to need a lead car needs a clearance pole on it. The escort table on this page renders each threshold from the code, and the department can add pilot cars and utility escorts on top for the biggest moves.
The Las Vegas corridor curfew
One route rule has no parallel in most states: on northbound Interstate 15 between the California line and Las Vegas, Friday afternoon travel drops the permitted width below what the same load could run elsewhere in the state, and southbound Sunday afternoon mirrors it. The travel-restrictions block on this page carries the rule as the code writes it.
How to read this page
A value reading "Not confirmed" means we could not verify the figure on an official agency page at review time, so it stays open rather than guessed. Superload moves above the standard permit thresholds get individual review by the state; contact the permit office named on this page.
